We are proud to be sponsored by the Southern Water Learn to Swim Scheme.
Springfield Swim Club was the first swimming club/school to be enrolled on the scheme which has now been running for 16 years and so far has taught more than 500,000 children.
Because of Southern Water and its co-sponsors we are provided with the most recent swimming aids and all our children enrolling receive an exclusive swimming bag.
Our teachers attend a yearly Southern Water Teachers Seminar where they are trained in up-to-date teaching techniques and share ideas and experiences with other teachers.
In 2007 Lynn Goring-Crook accepted a special award on behalf of the club for Springfield Swim Club’s special contribution to the Learn to Swim Scheme. In addition the club were honoured to hear a new Instructors Award is to be presented once a year in memory of Margaret and Joe Goring’s contribution to swimming.
Every year the teachers of Springfield Swim Club put forward nominations for our Southern Water Young Achiever of the Year for a child we feel has achieved something special. The winner from our club has the opportunity to be presented with his/her’s award at Southern Water’s headquarters by Olympic Gold Medallist Duncan Goodhew.
Of the Learn to Swim Scheme, Duncan Goodhew says: "Swimming is a great way of taking exercise, meeting new friends and having fun. That’s why I’m delighted to support the Learn to Swim Scheme."
