About Springfield Swim Club
Springfield Swim Club has offered Swimming tuition to children in Portsmouth for nearly 40 years. We are proud to be celebrating this landmark birthday in 2011.
Founded as a non-profit-making organisation in 1971 by Margaret & Joe Goring, both senior figures in the Amateur Swimming Association (ASA), the club teaches non-swimmers through to pre-competative levels.
We provide high quality lessons in small groups with ASA/STA qualified Swimming Teachers.
Working towards the Swimming Teachers Association Swim Scheme Badges we aim to teach children the skills and techniques in swimming combined with essential water safety and lifesaving.
All our classes are taught at the 18 metre swimming pool at Springfield School, Drayton. The school pool boasts a viewing balcony ideal for parents wishing to watch their children enjoying the water.
Since the deaths of our founders our club is run by a team of dedicated and professional Swimming Teachers headed up by Margaret and Joe’s son Roy Goring, and Granddaughters Lynn Goring-Crook and Dee Humphris.
Springfield Swim Club is thankful to the Southern Water Learn to Swim Scheme for their continued sponsorship of our teaching.
The club has taught thousands of children through the last four decades and many of our Parents and Grandparents learnt to swim with us too!
